Over the past eight years, I’ve conducted hundreds of unique experiments, but there are very few page elements that I’ve tested more frequently than hero banners. After recently assembling a best practice catalog for one of our long-standing partners, I had the opportunity to reflect on just how influential the hero banner can be.
One of the reasons why hero banners are so impactful when it comes to testing is there are a TON of different variables one could test related to the hero banner, increasing your likelihood of success. Possible variables include the size of the banner, the call to action(s) included in the banner, whether it is static or rotating, the presence of it on the page, the headline or sub-headline the list goes on.
Knowing just how influential the hero banner can be, I wanted to share five insights we’ve observed to help with your future hero banner optimization.
