Journey {n} An act of traveling from one place to another
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step“.
Although this sounds like great advice and can be very encouraging, I have to respectfully disagree. Since a journey is an act of traveling from one place to another, I believe that the journey of any distance, be it great or small, must begin with two equally critical pieces:
- Understanding where the journey begins
- Knowing the destination.
Starting a journey in the wrong place, or taking that first step in the wrong direction can sometimes be worse than not moving at all. And in business, not moving at all can be disastrous.
